Kamarantho Active Organic Farm- Paros
Karamantho is a unique farm in the island of Paros, whose approach to farming is based on regenerative agriculture. The estate is functioning under the philosophy of permaculture, a practice which highly promotes biodiversity. In fact, Karamantho, is characterized by an impressive number of different species of indigenous plants in its ground – 250 different species in only 23 acres!
Τhe farm is spreading the word of permaculture in Paros, as the neighbouring farmers who at first did not understand Kamarantho’s practices are now copying them, which makes the people behind Kamarantho really happy. Other farms slowly understand that permaculture can be very beneficial, as apart from the high quality of products one can grow with its practices, there are no external inputs needed like agrochemicals or fertilizers and therefore there is no extra cost.
Karamantho produces a green certified organic olive oil, which actually won 3rd place in the 2020 Berlin’s oil contest, in the category of organic oils. The estate also produces organic dried herbs and aromatics, which are produced through a natural drying process, unlike the alternative of drying ovens. Last but not least, this deeply eco-friendly farm can also make sure you get tipsy if that that you are looking for, as it also produces different kinds of Suma – the grapa of the Aegean islands – from grapes of their own produce.
The people of Kamarantho want consumers to know that their products are truly “clean” from any harmful substance one finds in the products of conventional farming and that they can be sure that this is evident in their quality as well.
We are truly happy to have inspiring initiatives such as Kamarantho in our network!
