On the edge of the Sporades, Alonissos hosts a varied marine environment closely connected to the lives of its inhabitants. There, Andromachi and Kiki Anagnostou, have now taken over the family business and are behind the tuna processing and standardization laboratory “ALONNISIOTISSA”.
By upgrading the equipment to meet all current standards and hygiene rules, they have nevertheless maintained intact the traditional recipe that passes from one home to another over the years and distinguishes their product for its taste and nutritional value.
Because tuna is a migratory fish, harvesting takes place from September to December after which the tuna is supplied and then frozen fresh. As Andromache told us: “From cutting and cleaning the tuna to boiling it in a pot of seawater, there is no other processing; the whole process is done by hand. It’s indeed a standardized product but beneficial to the consumer, nothing like other canned products, because it’s a traditional product, handmade from start to finish.”
In “ALONNISIOTISSA” you will find five different flavors of white and red tuna: in water, in extra virgin olive oil, spicy and in sunflower oil, as well as traditional or modern recipes proposed in collaboration with chefs!
Whether as a gourmet treat or as a weekly habit, “ALONNISIOTISSA” tuna is distinguished worldwide for its quality and makes a delicious meze.
