Ikariotissa in Greek means “the woman from Ikaria” and it is the name of the Ikarian beer that stars in today’s post . The name is actually an homage to the matriarchal culture that is an important characteristic of Ikaria’s society through the years.
The story of how the team of Ikariotissa came together is inspiring, as it shows how a common love and passion can bring people together. The people behind Ikariotissa, who did not all know each other before, decided to join forces and create the company out of the love for beer and the deep desire to return to Ikaria and call it home.
Ikariotissa is an unpasteurized beer which is made completely naturally with no added chemicals or additives by almost completely Greek raw materials. The beer is given time and care so it can develop its flavors and aromas, as nothing is rushed in the process – another famous Ikarian characteristic this beer embraces. The water used is of course from Ikaria, a water famous for its quality and its characteristics as many attribute to it the longevity that characterizes the people of Ikaria, which is one of the 5 Blue Zones in the world.
The company offers 5 different beer types, Ikariotissa Ale and Unfiltered Ale, Ikariotissa Lager, Ikariotissa Honey Red Ale and Ikariotissa Alcohol free.
