The sea runs in the blood of the Koutoukis family as they come from a long line of fishermen. Around 25 years ago, Georgos Koutoukis took the extra step in the family tradition by starting to also process the fresh sea products being fished, thus giving life to Limnos Thalassa or Lemno’s sea.
The method of fish salting has a great tradition in the island of Lemnos, and it came up as a way to preserve fresh fish. With this method, the fish is first submerged in salt and then it is either smoked or preserved in oil.
Limnou Thalassa offers a large variety of salted, marinated and smoked fish products as well as other fresh and frozen fish and seafood. All fish and seafood come from the surrounding area of Lemnos, where they are fished with great respect for the marine environment; a top priority for Limnou Thalassa.
All the recipes for the products of Limnou Thalassa come from the great grandfathers of the Koutoukis family, with the exception that modern methods are used to meet the strict safety and quality standards the company abides by. There are no preservatives whatsoever in the company’s products apart from the salt and oil used in the recipes.
The people behind Limnou Thalassa love deeply what they do and as they say they cannot imagine doing something else as fish is their passion, a passion which shines through each and every product.
